Cognos FM 10.2.1 on cognos 10.2 platform

Hi All,

We installed and configured cognos 10.2 on windows environment. We are able to connect to the SQL Server content store and start the cognos 10.2 service. Now the cognos 10.2 is up and running. We can create the data sources fom cognos connection and that is working fine.

After that we installed cognos franework 10.2.1 on same box in a differebt folder. And then in cognos framework configuration manager we changed the required uri properties to point to the cognos 10.2 environment. Now when I create a new project and then try to run mete data wizard , the next minute I choose Data Sources and click next, I am getting the below error.

BMT-MD-0003 DPR-ERR-2008 The dispatcher is unable to process the request. The request is directed to an unknown service name: http://www.ibm.com/xmlns/prod/cognos/contentManagerService/201301/.DPR-ERR-2082 An error has occurred. Please contact your administrator. The complete error has been logged by CAF with SecureErrorID:2013-10-08-07:25:42.323-#29

First of all, can we go with 10.2.1 Franework Manager on cognos 10.2 environment.? If we can, then what could be the reason for getting teh above error.

Any kind of help is appreciated.

Why would you want to do that? Why not use FM 10.2 ?  If you want to us 10.2.1 then it's better to install 10.2.1 BI Server also.
When you create a model in FM, it stamps a digit on the 1st line of the .cpf file which denotes the version. 10.2.1 is different than 10.2 so that letter would be different.

I'm with techie on this one. Do NOT mix versions unless directed to by IBM (IE. Cognos for MS Office) EVER! Also, VERY IMPORTANT, if you install FP1 on your BI server make sure to install FP1 on your FM install. They use some of the same UDA code/functions underneath.

That said if you get the same issue on like versions of FM with BI (IE. Both running 10.2.1) then look at turning off Data Execution Prevention (DEP) on the server and see if it still has the same issue/error.

If the URL in your error message is supposed to be your box, then your Cognos FM is misconfigured (unless maybe you work for IBM).

I agree with the others, ALWAYS use the same versions of multiple Cognos products. Mixing versions is not supported at all. As cognostechie pointed out with FM, most objects you create will be version stamped. Going to a more recent version is often ok, but an object from a newer version will normally not work in an earlier version.

For what its worth, we have DEP enabled on 10.2.1 and it does not seem to be a problem.
