Hi All,

I am getting the following error when starting the Cognos 8 service in configuration manager:

10:29:04, 'com.cognos.pogo.transport.PogoServlet', 'pogo', 'Failure'.
DPR-DPR-1035 Dispatcher detected an error
.

Can anyone throw some light on the resolution of this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Aman

Does it start after the failure? Some messages like these can be safely ignored.

Yes the service starts strangely and when I hit the URL on the localhost(http://localhost/cognos8) it throws an error:

The Cognos Gateway is unable to connect to the Cognos BI server. The server may be unavailable, or the gateway may not be correctly configured.

Please try again or contact your administrator.

There was a document on KB(#1029991.1) on cognos site which mentions changing the service name to be unique and changing port numbers. But, the port numbers and service name(is already unique) are correct!

Any clues what could be wrong?

Thanks for your reply

Aman

Hello All,

I was able to find the problem. Service has not been starting up due to insufficient memory available on the machine. By default in Cognos configuration it is allocated at 768 MB. Whereas there was 504 MB RAM on this machine. Moreover Cognos recommends having 2MB RAM for Cognos 8 installation.

Hopefully it will help someone when he encounters the same issue. You can also check the KB document 1021589.3 for details.

Thanks

Aman
