How to send email via cognos configuration

Hi,

how can we send mail via cognos configuration ?

does cognos send the mail directly to the email id or do we have to configure a SMTP server.

Hi,

You need to configure Cognos 10 to communicate with a mail server. For details see the Installation and Configuration Guide - chapter 5 (page 108 of 539 in the pdf)

Possibly a product defect, although without knowing how you have written the report it's impossible to say.

Hi, I am getting this error when scheduling a report to email

"no namespace in provided credentail"

I specified SMTP mail server value , I did not use any Account and Password and Default Sender. Is there anything else I should be changing in Cognos configuration ?

Please Help.

I suspect this is your problem. You need to provide an account and password to connect to the email server.

Now I tried with providing all the values. I have given Account and Pwd and also specified default sender. But it still shows the same error when I try to create credentials in My Preferences or when I try to schedule a report.
