Hi,

My company has decided to use Cognos 10.2 for handle our BI reports in one package, so installation and configuration of Cognos 10.2 has been made, and also sales and marketing data were imported into the Cognos, then a cube has been designed for us. But, I don't want to use that cube because of it's been slightly made and I need to create to my own cube. As I was informed that I need to install two application for that, which were named Cognos Transformer and Cognos Framework Manager 10.2. I've already installed the Cognos Transformer and made the configuration that it's needed. Then, I installed the Cognos Framework Manager 10.2 (Client), but I couldn't connect the Cognos database. Whenever I try to connect our database, it's giving me an error message. As far as I know that there need to be made some configuration changes to work that application, but I couldn't find any useful information. I just found an information like the application "Cognos Framework Manager 10.2" may not work on Windows 7 64 Bit operating system. But, I'm not sure about that...

Could you please guide me on how can I handle it ? I need to know where should I start to investigate this one...

Sincerely

cognostechie

Framework Manager needs connectivity to two databases.

1> The Content Store DB which FM will use to publish the package to
2> The DB which has your company's data

You can go to Cognos admin page and check whether data sources have been created or not. I presume that
Content Store has been set up and configured because you said that 10.2 was installed already.

By the way, where did you install FM? If you installed it on the server then the Cognos configuration needs to be
configured again. If you installed it on your local PC then you will need to open the Cognos Configuraion and provide
the proper URL so that it can connect to your server.

and yes, you are correct. We have noted lot of issues with FM and Transformer on ver 10.2 with 64 bit install.

If you installed it on your local PC then you will need to open the Cognos Configuraion and provide
the proper URL so that it can connect to your server.

How do you access Cognos config on the local machine to do this?

cognostechie

If you have installed FM on the local machine then it will create a menu item on the Start menu. You can also use the Windows Explorer to navigate to the installation folder and double-click on the file to open the configuration

<installation folder>\bin\cogconfigw.exe

This is most likely the issue. If you are using Compatible Query Mode, you will need the 32-bit Oracle driver as CQM uses only 32-bit access.

You will also need the same driver on the machine running Framework Manager, as it connects locally when using CQM.
