How to handle scientific notation in Contributor publish containers

We are creating a report using Framework Manager and Report Studio off of Cognos Planning Contributor data in the publish container.  There are some data points that are in scientific notation:

for example:  -4.54747350886464e-13

This is causing an error in the report when we run it.

Should we modify the data in the SQL tables or is there something else we can do that allows us to not manipulate data from the source?

Jeff

p.s.  We are running Cognos 8.4.1 (FP4 for BI and FP2 for Planning) on a mix of Windows 2003 and Windows 2008.  The back end is SQL 2008.
