Hi all,

I need to email a report in Cognos 8.4 in csv-file format.
The file in email puts filename.csv but in email puts Excel symbol and opens in Excel.

Any idea how to solve this?

Regards
Maria

Excel is setup on your computer to be the default program associated with .csv files.

You need to change the file associations for .csv files to point to whatever other program you want windows to use instead of excel.

The directions will depend on your operating system.

Directions for Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307859

Windows 7 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Change-which-programs-Windows-uses-by-default

Save the file from your email to your desktop.  Right click the file on the desktop and choose 'Open With...'.  Select the program you desire (like notepad) then make sure the checkbox is enabled that says 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file', then click 'OK'.
