Store Every Single Report Run...

Hi friends,

I have following three requirements to satisfy.

1. Store every single report user creates or modifies including Adhoc - i.e. Every single report in draft, created in Report studio and user do not store it.
2. Store every single report run even if user does not explicitly store the report.
3. On demand access to stored report in Req#2.

Limitation:
1. I can't use the Cognos SDK.
2. Cognos Version 10.1, Database: SQL Server 2008R2

Now before you jump on me and tell me that refer to -

1. Content Archival

2. How to Save Report Outputs to a File Location on a Per Report Basis.
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21342666

All these options, store report when user explicitly stores the reports. I need to store even if this is not the case. i.e. store output even if user has not explicitly pressed the save.

3. Refer to Content Store.

I managed to only get the report definition in this. [stored as XML]

I will really appreciate any help that you can provide.

Thanks in advance...

Hi,

Unless you write custom code for this using the SDK, there is no way to force Cognos 10 to store every draft report being written and not manually stored, and/or every report run and output not saved. The standard Cognos 10 UI simply does not work this way.

Sorry, :)

Your primary problem is (as you point out) these articles you link deal with Report output. - This requires effort on the users part to actually save the report they just ran.

In an extreme case you could enable SQL trace and see what is being executed, however this is usually limited to troubleshooting and is not really something you can make available via an "archive" system.

You could look in to a solution such as Brightstar Softwares Integrated Control Quite it offers some Archival services, however I still believe you are limited to requiring a user to save the report run.

I don't know of anyway to log or archive every report run without someone actually saving the report first...
