hi Friends,

Scenario: when user runs report in html, report comes back fine with initial data, when trying to fetch more data

we get:
DPR-ERR-2072

Unable to load balance a request with absolute affinity, most likely due to a failure to connect to the remote dispatcher. See the remote dispatcher detailed logs for more information. Check the health status of the installed system by using the dispatcher diagnostics URIs.

When you try to close browser: you get " This window is busy. Trying to close it might cause some errors" message.
If you try to run report in pdf or excel, You right away get the above error message.

This is not particular to any one report, it occurs with all the reports.
Any experience what makes Cognos 10 behave this way?

Hi,

Does this issue appear everytime you click page down or sometimes it works fine?
Do you have a distributed installation?
Are you using 10.1 or 10.1.1?
What is the application server you are using?

Regards,
Rahul

thanks for reply Rahul,

sometimes it does work fine as well.
Yes we have distributed installation (Web,App and DB).
We use 10.1.1
App server is Tomcat.

Hi,

In that case there is a possibility that the configuration for dispatchers are different in some places.
Try to run your COgnos with single dispatcher, and see if the issues is reproduced or not.
If it is not reproduced then it means, different dispatchers are configured differently you have to check all the settings for every dispatcher in Cognos configuration.
If it is reproduced (which I believe is unlikely), then there is some other issue, which you should investigate with only one dispatcher in working condition.

Rahul

We have only one dispatcher. but Webserver, app and db are on diff machines.

Here is the Error message from Log :

LoadBalanceRequest      Failure   <messages><message><messageString>DPR-DPR-1035 Dispatcher detected an error.</messageString></message></messages>   Cannot forward affine request because no node ID was specified. The request is malformed.  SOAPAction is: http://developer.cognos.com/schemas/reportService/1.absolute.

Appreciate your inputs.

Hi,

Have you tried this with only anonymous access without configuring any namespace?
If you have already tried the above thing, I believe there is some issue with the installation itself.

If you have not tried the above one, before trying with only anonymous access I would suggest you to restart the service again (if not already done) and see if you are able to reproduce it. Sometime while restarting it happens that some of the process threads are not properly configured, which works fine with subsequent restarts.

Just wanted to confirm that, my assumption is you have all the default settings in place and you have modified any default settings.

Thanks Rahul,

Turns out CAF was enabled on one of the dispatchers inadvertently. That created problem. Thank you for your input.
