Getting prior versions of the IBM Cognos Mobile app onto the ipad?

Hi All, I've got 2 iPads, one with Cognos mobile 10.1.1(.3.1) and one with 10.2.  My MHT files are produced by Cognos 10.1.1 and they only work on the iPad with Cognos Mobile 10.1.1.  On the 10.2 iPad the MHT file looks like it is loading but then the app just closes (and i've tried restarting, killing apps, reinstalling cognos mobile etc).

I'd like to put the previous version of the cognos mobile app onto the ipad with 10.2 - how do I get it?  The app store only has the current version.

Hi,

If you're lucky, the old version of the app will still be in the recycle bin on your computer (assuming you sync your iPads). Go to your recycle bin and take a look for 'IBM Cognos 10.x.x.x.x.ipa' (you may have a few different versions) - if it's there, copy it to your desktop. Then delete the 10.2 app from iTunes and from your 10.2 iPad, drag the ipa file to the library section in iTunes, then sync your iPad with iTunes.

Plan B is that you already have it on your other iPad... Delete the 10.2 app from iTunes and from your iPad with 10.2. Connect your iPad with the 10.1.1 app to iTunes and see if you can get the app to sync back to iTunes from your iPad. Then connect your other iPad to iTunes and sync the 10.1.1 app to this.

Good luck!!

Hi MFGF - Is that the only way you know of to get the old versions?

The *.ipa file is the app. What MFGF outlined is probably the only hope you have of getting the old one back. Unless you are willing to jailbreak the iPads, then you might have other options.

This is what non-Apple-fans refer to as "the walled garden", where you are tied to iTunes and the Apple App Store. Microsoft is also headed down this path with their new mobile OSes, unfortunately. Android not so much.
