cognos 8 report is not picking up the content store db server data

Hi,
I have configured cognos connfiguration and services are running fine, for LDAP configuration, we use cognos series 7 version.
I had already configured for configuration manager with the computer name, DN, base distingused computer name, primary ticket server. I have just changed the computer name to the server which i have configured cognos.

The problem is the content store is nt picking up the data from the database server which i have given. The report shows the old configured content store data.

Please let me know what needs to be done.

A report is built on a package.
A package is built on a datasource.
A datasource points to a database.


So switching content store database has nothing to do with it's actual content.
You need to fix your datasources inside BI to reflect new locations where needed.

Thank You so much for your response. This has resolved the issue. I completely forgot about the BI part during the cognos configuration phase.  :)

Another issue, which i am not able to resolve is regarding the permissions. when i open up the portal, i get this error.
Attached is the document with the screenshot. Please help, where i need to go and set the permissions.

Under Directory->cognos7->USers-> Employees folder
i have all the emp id's which is coming from access manager administartion. and acccess and permissions are given.

Please help on what i am missing.

Hi,

If you log in to Cognos Connection as a System Administrator, you should be able to select the properties button for the root of the Public Folders (look at the list of buttons at the top of the Cognos Connection page). On the Permissions tab, make sure that the relevant groups/roles have traverse and read privileges granted if you want them to be able to see and view content. Assign Execute too for anyone who should be able to run reports.

Hi ,

Thank you for the resposne. i had to give myself access to to login as adminsitrator.

i have added one user in the access manager and in cognos connection tools->directory->cognos7->employees folder i have created his profile and given him all the permissions. read, execute, traverse.
i went to the package and report also and added employees in the permissions tab and have given them the same permissions.

But when the one of the user clicks on the report, he gets the error,

QE-DEF-0288
unable to fine the data source.
DPR-ERR-2082. An error has occured. please contact your systme administrator.

He has all the permissions. i checked my times but still the error appears for him.

i know this question was asked by one of the folks in this forum, but that is nt helping me resolve this issue.

please help me if am missing something apart from given permissions.

I checked the permissions and the user has all permissions for the database also...

If you log into the Admin console and test the data source, does it test successfully? What permissions are set on the data source definition? What about the signon - is it defined for use by everyone?

yes; i checked the data source by logging as adminstrator. The tested source tested successfully and permissions for data source and signon is there for everyone.

what may be the issue? :(
