Hi Techies

I am facing this issue, from two days. I am unable to install Contributor client - 8.1 MR1 on Win 7 machines, as it open the main asp page, but unable to download the EP files.

So I tried installing from an USB, but still its unable to install the EP 8.1 MR1 contributor client on Win 7 IE8 . Hence can you please suggest me any work arounds for it , as its currently a business reqt which has to be fulfilled at the earliest.  :( ???

           Please find the screeenshot attached

Please do reply if any solutions/work arounds available.

Regards

Hi Cogplan,

Planning 8.1 (any version) is not supported on Windows 7 nor IE8, therefore, if you need to log a ticket with IBM support regarding any client based issues, you would not receive assistance.  Additionally, features of the product may not work as expected.

As for getting around this error even though it's not supported, try to perform the install manually as opposed to using the web.  You will want to find the clientfull73.cab file on your gateway machine or on any planning server with the ..\webcontent\contributor\controls directory structure.  You can then run this .cab file and it will extract the files you need to install the active X contributor web client.

Hope this helps.

          Thanks always for your reply

I will check tomorrow, I read in IBM Support site that dont support. I tried installing the web client  manually , it didnt work . Popped up the same error, hence I will check and let you know.

hope this works , as few users are already on Win7

Thanks a lot for the workaround. Its working . the Cab files which I have taken from Cognos webcontent folder is working installed after some tries. Hope the users dont face any issues with respect to IE 8 and Win 7.
I am now worried if any issues occur, IBM will not be supporting us or not.
