Built-in Roles in 10.1 - Consumer vs Enhanced Consumer?

Hi All,  I have been trying to help a new customer setup their cognos environment and map their licenses to Cognos namespace roles in C10.1

They asked me how to the setup Consumers vs Enhanced consumers - And looking at the built-in roles, I can't tell how to grant/deny permissions to business insight, and the doco hasnt helped.  Googling only seems to find me descriptions of the license roles, but nothing about how to apply them.  Any ideas?

Are there 2 built in entries for Consumer vs Enhanced Consumer or do I need to do some tweaking?

Hi,

There is just the Consumer role but you can set up access to Business Insight by setting the permissions on the Executive Dashboard capability.

We wanted to keep Business Insight and Business Insight Advanced off line until the support team had a handle on the new studio's prior to rolling them out to the public.

Using the executive dashboard capability I have been able to turn off Business Insight for all but the Core developers

However since we also have over 150 Report Studio Authors today I have not found a way to disable the Business Insight Advanced.

Does anyone have any recommendations on this?

Business Insight Advanced is the replacement for "Express Author Mode" in Report Studio...

I will admit to a little confusion as to how IBM can justify breaking the tool in half and charging for something we always had in the past...

Sure there are a few enhancements but in 8.4 my Company had the Go! Dashboard and used both Professional and Express Author modes in Report studio.
Now on 10.1.1 we had to pay ALOT of money to get the Business Insight (The descendant of Go! Dashboard) and Business Insight Advanced (Report Studio Express Author Mode)

<-- Not a happy custormer...

I'm confused! To be able to use Express Authoring Mode in Cognos 8, your users would have needed either an Advanced Business Author license (for Express authoring only) or a Professional license (for Express authoring and full Report Studio).  These are the exact same licenses that allow access to Business Insight Advanced and Report Studio/Business Insight Advanced in Cognos 10. How can IBM be charging you more for the same licenses?  To be using GO! Dashboard in Cognos 8, your users would have required Enhanced Consumer licenses, and the same Enhanced Consumer license in Cognos 10 permits them to use Business Insight. I really can't see how IBM could be expecting you to pay more for the exact same licenses? This sounds to me like someone at IBM doesn't know what they are talking about :-)

To add...
You have to pay for 'Enhanced Consumer' license if you want to enable new features for your old consumer license such as active reports.
But for already licensed authors/users, these features are available.
However, keep in mind that Business Insight needs it's own license as previous Go Dashboard but 'Business Insight Advanced' comes as a part of Report Studio or if you had 'Express Author' license before.

Business Insight is controlled by Executive Dashboard capability.
Business Insight Advanced is controlled by 'User Interface Profiles>Express'.
