Hi all,
Currently we are on Cognos 10.1 version and would like to apply the latest fix pack to this existing version.  Can any one provide the latest website to be applied to the existing version?

And is it worth it to apply the fix pack and please mention your recommendation.

Thanks.

Suraj

Fixpacks:

Why you should apply depends upon what's fixed in the fix pack that affects you or not in the link below:

Is there any reason why you're not moving up to the latest Release Pack (10.1.1)? It includes everything in Fix Pack 1 plus more besides.

MF.

Consider what MF said but keep in mind that fix packs are applied over existing installation and the RP1 (10.1.1) is a complete install.

Thanks for the feedback. we want to apply the FP1 for Cognos 10.1 first. Not sure if we want to do a 10.1.1 installation now.

If we do a 10.1.1 do w ehave to uninstall the entire exiting cognos version and start from the beginning?? Please let me know.

I always install new version in a different directory than previous just in case I have to revert back.
After everything in new version is tested, previous version is uninstalled.

Fix packs install into the same current instance of Cognos 10, and don't require you to uninstall first, whereas release packs (like 10.1.1) work the same way as a new version - you need to uninstall what's there and install the release pack in its place (or alongside in a separate instance).

Below are steps we followed on Windows 2008 R2 Standard x64 edition installation.
1.   Install web server (IIS) with WebDav
2.   Add CGI and ISAPI Roles on the web server
3.   Install 32-bit BI Gateway - We  ran E:\Cognos Software\Cognos BI Server 10.1.0 32-bit\win32\issetup.exe and the installation location was E:\PF\ibm\cognos\c10
4.   Install Content Manager and BI Server Application Tier Components (E:\Cognos Software\Cognos BI Server 10.1.0\winx64h\issetup.exe) which is a 64-bit and installation location was E:\pf(x86)\ibm\cognos\c10_64
5.   Configure BI Gateway
6.   Configure BI Server Components
7.   Set Security
8.   Set auditing level in Cognos Administration
9.   Install and configure BI Samples and Audit Reports

My question was while installing the patch.
1. Should I download "Cognos BI 64-bit 10.1.0 FP1 Windows" and install the same on E:\pf(x86)\ibm\cognos\c10_64 directory itself?
2. What should i do with the 32-gateway?

Please help me.

Thanks,

Suraj

Not sure why you are using 32-bit gateway.
64-bit BI server installs everything for the BI Server.
Only 32-bit you need is FM, Transformer etc...

Thanks Suraj.

So for the Fix pack, download the fix pack and install it on E:\pf(x86)\ibm\cognos\c10_64 where the original components are installed?

What about the client tools like FM and Data Manager? Do we have separate fix packs or the above fix pack installation should take of everythging?

Please let me know.
Thanks.

Suraj

Yes, you need to apply 64-bit version of fixpack over 64-bit BI Server and 32-bit fixpack over FM and other 32-bit components.
