Drill up behavior not consistent

How do you drill up in query studio?  The drill up feature is inconsistent.  If we use the toolbar "drill up" option we receive the following message:
  "The report item that you selected does not support this action. Select a different report item or action."
If we right click on the value and choose "drill up" then the drill up may work but sometimes returns the above message.

Nevermind. I guess this was user error as I was selecting the column instead of the actual data value within the column when trying to do the drill-up.
