Hi,
I am facing a problem related to Analyst Library. My this Application is only Analyst Application. There is No Contributor Web Grid associated with this.

I have a Library named  "Analyst Application" . Before making changes to this library I took the backup of this library as "Backup Application".
Then I had made certain changes to the Library "Application".

Now,I need is to move certain Data from "Backup Application" i.e. old Analyst Application to new one "Analyst Application".

Are you clear with the problem ? Can you please suggest a way for this ??

Thanks in advance,
Anand

Do you have 3 libraries or 2?

The way I read your post:
1. Analyst Application
2. Backup Application
3. Application

Questions:
1. How did you make the backup of "Analyst Application" -- did you copy the library folder in the file system?
2. What "certain changes" did you make?  Were they structural? IE: you changed / modified / added / deleted a d-list, d-list member, d-cube, etc? Or was it data that changed?
3. What do you need to move into "Analyst Application" from "Backup Application" : Data changes or structural changes

Cheers,
Eric

Hi Anand,

When you took a backup, was this by using the Analyst library copy wizard?  If so, you should be able to build some one-shot 'data load' links between the archive & current library.

If the backup was done at the Filesystem level, you won't be able to add the library as the library number will be the same as your modified library's.  The quick fix would be to remove the current library in File -Administration - Maintain Libraries and Users, then add the backup in, use the Analyst copy wizard to copy it to a new library number, then remove the just-added backup and add the modified library back in.  You'll now be able to build d-links as above from the backup copy with the new library number.

If there are a lot of links to other libraries so you can't easily remove the library, the best option might be to bring your backup library up in a 'dev/test' environment and do the library renumbering there, then attach it back into production without needing to touch your live model.  This also stops you needing any downtime.

Good luck!

Thanks Alexis Lawrence !!
I moved the Analyst Application by making use of Two different Environments.

I will try to use the Copy wizard for further reference.

@ Eric : I have only two Libraries. Sorry for the different name used.
1. Analyst Application
2. Backup Application

Questions:
1. How did you make the backup of "Analyst Application" -- did you copy the library folder in the file system?
-- Copied all the content of Library at File level.

2. What "certain changes" did you make?  Were they structural? IE: you changed / modified / added / deleted a d-list, d-list member, d-cube, etc? Or was it data that changed?
-- The changes were structural. There are some modifications in the D-Lists and some deletions.

3. What do you need to move into "Analyst Application" from "Backup Application" : Data changes or structural changes
-- I have to move Data changes from "Backup Application"  to "Analyst Application".

Thanks,
Anand

Hi Anand,

Glad to hear that helped.  If you've got 2 environments in play, it's also well worth looking at deployments - I wouldn't use them until 8.4 FP2, but from then on they are production-ready and by far the best way for moving Contributor and Analyst models between environments.

Alexis
