Newbie question - User annotations possible in TM1?

I am very new to TM1 and need to find out real quickly if it is possible for end users to make annotations to cells as in Cognos Planning? If so is it possible to make annotations from the Excel interface as well?

Build a text cube (S elements in the last dimension) which fits the shape you want your comments in. Then build a frontend to capture them. I used the Excel comment objects for this some time ago.
