Hi All,

we are in 8.3 environment and we use site minder in our environment. we are unable to create macro to synch with Analyst in CAC. it throws message " unable to collect libraries". and it doesnt create a macro step at all. we also cant run analyst macros thru CAC.

it looks like the siteminder issue but noone is able to confirm the cause. i spoke with cognos tech manager, senior planning architects....

any help greatly appreciated...

Thank You

kulkarni

1.  Can you manually sync the application?  Or even that fails?
2.  What does the planning error log say?
3.  Can you open the analyst library directory from your pc as well as from the main dispatcher?

thanks for responding...

1) yes
2) E1008 Failed to logon to CAM. Logon aborted.. The return code was 1008.
3) yes

1) Are your services running under a named local admin account or local system?
2) Are the libraries on a UNC path or a mapped drive?

This is most likely a permission issue.
Example:

If services (Cognos 8 service, Cognos 8 Enterprise Planning) are running under local system and your libraries are under a mapped drive or UNC path, the service will be unable to collect the library information as the 'Local System' account does not have access to the share by definition of the share/security permissions on the files.

I am looking at #2.  I suppose you are using a service account to runall your planning components, is that right?  Like 'rbuhrt' mentioned are you using 'local account' by any chance?

The other possibility is that the service account does not have privilege to query the folders on your server where Analyst Libraries are located.

Are you seeing these issues post siteminder installation?

thanks guys.

yes we are using service account and UNC path. (sorry i should have mentioned it earlier).
we are able to log in as the service account in CAC and work normally. it has folder level privileges too.

but all these started after we installed site minder... strange enough, we have site minder in all environments... its justnot working in PROD. the only diff between other envi and PROD is, prod has two gateways and it needs load balancing using VIP. while others have one gateway so the load balancing is not required even if we are using VIP.

i dont know if this info helps but thought of sharing with you....
