Display data in a chart when the data range is very broad

Hi there,
I'd like to get others opinions on the best way to handle this issue.

I have a report a report that delivers data for our units with a prompt for the specific unit. Within that report, I have a bar chart that shows the yearly totals. This works fine for all of the units that have fairly consistent yearly totals. However, one unit has a year that is much larger than all the others (in the millions versus all the others in the thousands).

I can't see a way to change the Y axis to work for all the units. I have a style variable that changes the format from millions to thousands depending on the units yearly totals. But that doesn't work for this unit because of the wide range of totals ($176k to $33m).

I'm thinking of creating two versions of the chart with a render variable based on the unit. Is there another way? I've also tried using all different types of charts but none work very well at showing the data.

Any thoughts? Is the render variable the best option?

Thanks!
Susan
