Lucky me EVEN MORE COGNOS BI issues....

Ok guys another brain teaser (in my case hair puller)

Thanks to you Someclown I was able to migrate my Planning environment to a new server with ease.

I did however forget about one piece..... we have Cognos BI connected to the Sun Directory Server of the old server.

When ever one of our Planning users attempts to generate a Framework model from an extension in Planning, she will get a CM-CAM-4005 error.

Yet for some reason, I cannot connect Cognos BI to the new server.  Oh I followed the directions where it says to open Cognos Configuration for BI and go to Security, then Authentication and add a new namespace, but the "Authentication" node is missing underneath the Security node.

I called Cognos and after 30 minutes, their guy gave up after he said the BI app server's (where the Cognos 8 servive is running) configuration was coming up as if it was a gateway and said he would have another guy stronger in BI call me.  That was 2 hours ago.

So now since I have given up on them AGAIN, I turn to you guys for help.

SomeClown

How many BI servers do you have?  You need to run Cognos Configuration on the server where the Content Manager service is running.  If it's that server, did you do one install to one location or multiple locations? You may have multiple Cognos Configuration pieces floating out there if the latter (if multiple install locations, browse in Windows Explorer to find cogconfig.exe in the app side, not gateway location)

You may have to go slow on this one to avoid losing the security info from the object assignments.

If possible, you may want to fire up the old Sun and Access manager and take a full deployment (including security) as backup before going too much farther.
