Greetings All,

We are looking to do some simple reporting from the content store, mostly around who is part of what groups, what reports use what packages, report inventory, etc.

The basic audit database will show us what has run and who has logged in, but doesn't query the content store for a current "snapshot", which is what we are looking for.

I found the Cognos 8 Audit Extension package on the IBM Cognos site ( http://support.cognos.com/supported/tti/public/docs/cognos_pp_development_c8auditextensionpublicpackage.zip ).  This is exactly what we are looking for.

I've installed it according to instructions, and have configured the server, but I cannot seem to get the audit to run.  I keeps returning an error to me that my login credentials were rejected by ReportNet.  Ironically, we are using Cognos8, not ReportNet.

"2009-07-01 08:33:04,842 [Thread-76] ERROR com.cognos.c8AuditExtension.AuditEngine - Exception: Login credentials were rejected by ReportNet
com.cognos.c8HelperLibs.c8.C8ConnectionException: Login credentials were rejected by ReportNet"

It's driving me crazy, as the Namespace, ID, and password are all correct.

Any thoughts?

Tank you,
Rodger

Have a look at MetaManager's Content Store Documenter Module.  It has exactly what you're looking for.  You can see more information on MetaManager and BSP Software's other Implementation-Based Software portfolio at  http://www.bspsoftware.com

I was finally able to use the Audit Extension model.  It turns out I was using the correct ID and password the whole time.  The error that it gave telling me that I was not was typical of missing components or out of data specific .jar files.

I'm not sure what kicked it into gear, but I'll describe what I did:

1.  I didn't think to shut down the Cognos services, THEN install the Audit Extension, THEN restart Cognos services.  I had to restart the services for another reason, and I suspect that is what initialized the extension and allowed me to run it.
2.  I installed the SDK components (we have a license) on the Cognos server itself, just in case.

To my knowledge, the AE didn't need the SDK, so I suspect it was more about properly stopping, installing, then restarting the services that enabled everything to work.  {{SMACKS FOREHEAD}}

The Audit Extension audit scan takes a quite a while to run if you run all three components.  I haven't have much time to verify the results.  I was disappointed that the Groups/Roles aren't listed for users, as that was a key item I wanted.  The content audit was interesting, but like I said, I haven't checked it for accuracy yet.
