I have created a report in Cognos Report Studio. The report contains some HTML links. The links work in HTML out put but do not work in PDF output. Does anybody know why and how to make them work?

Hi,

where are your html links pointing? do they go to other reports or external/internal web page.
Drill throughs will work in PDF providing there are no issues with security of users to report and I use hyperlinks within some reports with no issues.

What version of acrobat are you using?

It will be joy to have this one cracked as I recently had a prob like this with a drill thru  report that works perfectly in 8.1 but  in Version 8.3 the hypelink  pointer appears about 4cm below the actual text object. We observed this both in drill thrus and  bookmarks.

Just a common knowledge, HTML report are rendered in your local PC. PDF however, are rendered on your BI Server

Try running the link from your Cognos BI Server. Normally the technical team increase the security level of web browsing in the server. If the link doesnt run in your server, ask technical to reduce the Internet security level until you are able to open the link from the server.

Another difference between 8.1 and 8.3 is that I think Cognos 8.3 is now a bit smarter in terms of displaying reports in PDF. In 8.1 you will need to specify the length and width of the column and cells in order for the report to display correctly (and in readable format) in PDF.

Try removing all the format you have in a column/text (the position and overflow) and leave it blank as per default. The link should now appear as per normal.

Hi All,

I am having a similar problem, where my Hyperlinks are not correctly working in PDF format.

The link is meant to direct the user to a folder on another server.

If I run this via HTML, then all works fine. If the report is run via PDF then the following is behind the link;

File:///C|/Documents%20and%20Settings/JamieH/Local%20Settings/Temporary%20Internet%20Files/Content.IE5/W167G7QR/\\wgbbne02\data\PMO\Projects\PID00013 (Risk Manager - Phase 1)

Even if the report is saved locally this occurs.

Does anyone have any idea that might help me out?

Cheers
