Cognos career

Hi, am not sure whether i can post this topic here, if not pls guide to the right place. here comes my query:

I have 9+ years in Handling Operations, Quality control, Reporting, Automation. Last 3 years i was more into reporting systems in Excel and automating report generation using Excel and Access using VBA. Now highly interested in building a career in Cognos. Please let me know what should i learn in Cognos or what product in Cognos should i concentrate that would really help me in reaching my objective. am prepared to go for a training program conducted by Cognos.
