ratikant

can you explain where exactly you are getting this error?

Check the port number for your SQL Server...

librabee

Ronaldo,

Yes, I have checked my SQL Server port. The existing port is 1433 and also the same port applied in cognos configuration.

librabee

This error occurs after creating Data source and checking the connectivity by "Test the connection" option. Where the source cannot be pulled from SQL Server.

ratikant

Check your connection string. In the time of Datasource creation, did u provide the correct parameters or not.

Hello librabee

Let me get you right are you having problem connecting to the SQL server through ReportNet as well as appying the Cognos configuration.

If both then is the Cognos configuration for FrameWork manager on your client machine or is it the configuration for ReportNet server

NKT

librabee

Hi Cognosfreelance,

It is not for FrameWork Manager, this error appears it in the configuration for Reportnet Server.

Are you defining the SQL server to be your Content store ??

Do you have a tool outside Reportnet application ( like Toad for example) to test if your server is able to open a connection to your sql database.
You need to have a database connector installed and configured in your reportnet server to be able to address a database, either a native one or an ODBC one.

Draoued

One addition:
Have you checked the Cognos Knowledge database in Cognos support ?

There are couple of issues listed when doing a search on QE-DEF-0285.
case 1
case2

There are some others also.
You need a supported account to be able to see the links.

sir_jeroen

Have you installed SQL Server SP 3a?

In some case this will solve some connections problems.

Install the updated JCE files available for download from the Cognos Support site.
