Powerplay tries to open a remote cube - why??

So we use Pplay series 7 and I have 30 users all set up fine and working.  Cubes and reports are stored/run/accessed locally.

This ONE workstation is a bit weird.  When I open powerplay it comes up with the welcome screen as per usual and when I try to start a new report it opens a weird screen.  It asks me to "Choose a remote cube" and seems to hint it needs a Pplay Enterprise server.  Whats that??

All our users access the cubes (mdc files) directly off the network and then they generate their reports that way.  This one PC wants to choose a remote cube and not a local cube.  I went into the Configuration Manager but couldn't find any obvious setting.

Any clues?

PowerPlay Enterprise Server is a means of making cubes available centrally so you don't have to distribute them all over your network, and so you can access them with a thin (browser) client instead of or in addition to the fat PowerPlay explorer/reporter app.
There is a check box in the Open dialogue which determines whether the client looks for a "local" .mdc file or a broadcast cube name from the server.  It sounds like for some reason this one workstation has it defaulting to Remote rather than the "default default" of Local.  You should be able to just click the Local option, then proceed normally - this may reset the default, but if it doesn't I would look for an .ini file for the client app, I don't think that sort of setting is in config mgr.

in cer5.ini (or appropriate one for your version)...
in the [PowerPlay DataServer] section...
change the value for "Local" from 0 to 1.
