Hi,

Objective: In our environment the report current output versions are saved for undetermined amount of time but we want to keep the report for 10 days. We know it possible to do it at per report basis but we wanted to make change across the board.

I was wondering if there is some xml or some setting in cognos config to change the default behaviour from number of occurances to duration of 10 days.

Thanks,
RK

I think there's no general setting to achive this.

But there is a solution for the problem. If you use Cognos 10.1.1 than you can create a scheduled maintanence task to do this job.
You can create a content removal task as follows:
- In IBM Cognos Administration chose the Configuration tab and than Content Administration
- From the toolbar on the left, click on the New Content Maintennance icon and choose Content Removal
- You can specify the time and/or version number in the task creation wizard
- After you created the new task, you can schedule it, and so your old output will be deleted on a daily basis

Thats it

Thx NoRkOs, yes that does the job will it also scan indivdual's my folder content as well or does it justwork at a public folder/ directory level content removal.

Thanks again for your help,
RK

Content Removal works only in the public folder.

If you want to delete report outputs in users My Folders I'm affraid you would need to use SDK.

hi RKMI, I have a question - I hope you can help . . . in the initial post you say "In our environment the report current output versions are saved for undetermined amount of time" - this is something we want to have,  by having the default value for Report Output Versions set to 0 instead of 1. Has your system got the default as 0? Or is this set individually per report? thanks, GJM

Did anyone had a chance to find if there is a possibility to change the default number of report output versions for the whole environment - not only per report?

Thank you.

Hi All,

Any one has come across the below situation.

I would like to change the no of "report output versions" can be allowed for each report. For an instance I have created a Sales Report when you look at the set properties of the report we can notice that there were two options one is "Run history" and the other option is "Report Output Versions". Both are by default Run history(Number of Occurrences:5) and Report output versions(Number of occurrences:1).

Is there any global setting(in any configuration file or any advanced setting or anywhere in content store table which holds the information) where we can be able to default these values to desired limit. For an instance Run history(Number of Occurrences:2) and Report output versions(Number of occurrences:2)

Thanks
J

digging some old posts.. as the previous post asked, is there any setup we can have to set the max number of report output version globally?

we are currently on Cognos 11 and still can't find way to do this.
