Cognos rank function with cubes

Hello!

I've been asked to incorporate a rank of the top product we sell into one of our reports. I've noticed that since I've used the Rank() function, it has slowed down the report tremendously. I've read a few different sources saying you can use Rank() on a dynamic cube and some recommending I don't. If anyone can provide more information on this, it would be extremely helpful!
