Hi,

One of our teams wanted to perform Cognos and Maximo integration POC hence installed Cognos 10.2.1 on fresh Windows server.

Cognos BI is installed and configured on single server with Derby database as Content Store DB.

The person who installed Cognos is not that expert and made few mistakes while configuration as below:

  • There were some issues in Cognos configuration settings however updating those settings Cognos Content Manager became up and running.
  • Web Server configured using both IIS and HTTP Server with incomplete settings hence dispatcher URI started showing "AAA-AUT-0013 The user is already authenticated in all available namespaces." error.

To resolve web server issue, we have deleted virtual directories from IIS and made HTTP server as web server by configuring steps mentioned here; https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSCJHT_1.0.1/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.pci_win_ig.1.0.1.doc/t_inst_pci_win_webserverconfig.html

Even after restarting HTTP server and Cognos service; it is still showing same error hence not able to access IBM Cognos as expected.

When tried to access Cognos using IE browser http://servername:port/ibmcognos/ link it shows window as attached screenshot.

Kindly provide the solution for this issue because it looks like some setting(s) is/are missing to apply.
Regards,
S.G.D.

Well, from the screenshot it looks to me like your web server is mis-configured. I would delete the entire web server config and start again from scratch, following the instructions precisely.

Cheers!

We have uninstalled Cognos installation and reinstalled however its not allowing to register and start Cognos Content Store Database service from Cognos Configuration as shown in attached screenshot.

Have performed all the suggested steps from below links however didn't help to resolve it.

1. https://it.toolbox.com/question/ibm-cognos-102-content-database-service-fails-to-start-using-the-default-ibm-derby-database-for-the-content-store-101812
2. http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21673320
3. http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21700989
4. http://queryvision.com/ibm-cognos-content-database-derby-started/

Can someone please share the link to which can give step by step Cognos 10.2.1 installation and configuration/

Hi,

That's an entirely different issue than the web server problem you posted initially.

Question. When you launched Cognos Configuration, did you right-click and use the "Run as Administrator" option?

Cheers!

What database are you using for your content store? Can you provide details of how you configured it?

Cheers!

As mentioned in my 1st post; Cognos BI is installed and configured on single server with Derby database as Content Store DB.

Those are default configuration settings for Cognos Content Store DB except localhost is replaced with servername.

Hi,

Are you seeing any messages in the cogserver.log file or in the Apache Derby log file that can provide any details about the issue?

Have you looked at the below technote?

Yes, I referred this link earlier and mentioned in my 1st mail however it didn't resolve this issue.

I couldn't find cogserver.log file cause Cognos service not even ran once after installation.

I didn't check  Apache Derby log file. What is the location to find it?

I would guess the c10_location\contentstore folder. I don't use Derby, though...

Are you using a Windows OS?

Search regedit for IBM Cognos.  There will be 2 entries where one of the values will refer to cogbootstrapservice.exe ( or something similar).  Delete them.  Restart the computer.

You should then be able to register the cognos service and start it up.

Yes, I am using Windows Server.

After following above steps, Cognos Content Store and Cognos Service registered and started as expected.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Thanks to MFGF too! :)
