11.0.7 Installations - More of a heads up on issues encountered

Have installed 11.0.7 successfully. SSO is working. Had some small issues.

As the BIN64 directory is wiped and reinstalled when going from 11.0.6 to 11.0.7 you lose the sqljdbc_auth.dll. This is for SSO. So make sure you put that back before you restart services.

Can confirm the tool bar missing icons issues have been fixed. We found this issue with IE 11.0.44 and 11.0.45 but not 11.0.43 or before.

Also I was getting javascript issues. Error: Load timeout for modules: blah blah _KE8.js

This was due to caching. I ended up opening IE. pressing F12 to get the console up. Then loading Cognos and the problem was fixed. I have been advised this was due to when you open the console it requests the files again from the server.

Here's what I experienced for the install of 11.0.7 with SSO:

The home page displays 2 "IBM Cognos Analytics" logos in top left and some of the icons on the right like the preferences icon were missing but that small issue can be overlooked as this release fixes the missing icon issue. This is odd because in my dev environment I had no issues but in my UAT environment it happened. Same execution of the installer.

CAS - as above - just re-copy the sqljdbc_auth.dll.

Gateway - I had to do a bit of a hack:

1. Rename the existing Analytics folder so the installer will detect the missing Analytics directory and allow you to do a custom install
2. Install only the gateway.
3. Copy your cogstartup.xml from the backup to the new Analytics\Configuration folder.
4. Delete the csk and certs folders.
5. Open Cognos Configuration and re-enter all your passwords.
6. Save

If you get a message "Would you like to store this in plain text" that means that the configuration settings haven't connected to your CAS properly - bad passwords or settings.

Cheers,
Jeff

I am facing the same issue. Cognos 11.07 SSO is simply not working. I am curious to understand what role does sqljdbc_auth.dll plays in SSO. Is it specific to SQL-SERVER ? Do you need this in the Gateway BIN64 or APP TIER BIN 64 ?

I just upgraded from R6 to R7 and setup SSO.
It works consistently in Chrome (purged all cached objects) but intermittently in Firefox ESR. I did not replace the sqljdbc_auth.dll file. Using DB2 for repository.

SSO with R7 is also working consistently for me with MS Edge and MS IE 11. Only FF ESR is having a prob.
