Primer for Bar Graph

Ok, I apologize for the incredibly pedestrian question here, but I'm struggling with getting a simple bar graph to work. I'm creating a report that pulls all new licences within the last year, sorted by month, with a count of how many new licenses per month. The report works wonderfully, but I also need to chart it on a bar graph, one bar for each month. I've attached a picture of the report page layout with the bar graph showing what I've done with both the graph and the list report.

I've searched for information on the graphs here on Cognoise, and there are several topics devoted to them, but they're all rather complex issues or advanced features, and they assume a basic competence in structuring one, which I apparently don't have. So if any of you could point me to a basic primer, or lay out the basics here, I would very much appreciate it.

I think you want to take the Month field out of the Series, so that you've Month as your axis and Rank as your measure.

BigChris,
I tried your suggestion, and it's now returning a single month's data, but not at all the data I'm expecting. It seems to be just checking the first line item returned, which is a May date, and returning that as value 5. I'm attaching a picture of the actual returned data (top pic), and my expected data, created in Excel, (bottom pic).

Hi Revan,

I don't know if it'll help, but I've knocked together a very simple example of what I think your graph design should look like.
