Hello Experts,

Whenever i run a report output in excel or pdf, after the report is processed, it shows a windows prompt, asking me to open/save or cancel. The minute i click open or save, it says downloading from server and opens the report. So till the moment i click open the file is still in server. If I don't click open or save in under 30 seconds, then the files is no more available in the server and it fails to open or save. Is this Cognos level setting or something at webserver level? How do i increase this timeout setting for report download.

Reason being some heavy report takes time to complete, and if the users miss to click open, then they end up having to run the report again.

Appreciate any help.

The prompt can be eliminated at the desktop through browser configuration. Steps to do this depend on the browser you are using.

I am not really sure why we have <marquee> available these days. It can be... annoying, though.

We tried that option. It works fine for IE 8 but not in IE 11. Besides we cant really instruct all of our users to make the change in their local machines. That's why i wanted to take approach from server side to increase the timeout for file download.

Please let me know if anyone knows of a way to achieve this.

No more marquee....

Apart from browser settings (which for IE can be set with group policy), not sure what can be done.

But no worries on marquee, I was just poking a little fun which in hindsight probably did not come out that way. :)
