Hi All,

We are facing the performance in our cognos production environment. I appreciate your suggestion or help to identify the issue.

Environment details:-
OS:- Solaris 5.10
Cognos Version:- 10.1 with no patch
CM DB-Oracle

Problem details:
we are facing performance issue in our production cognos portal.
We have checked the services are running fine and server CPU and memory utilization is below 25% across the month.
RAM memory size is about 300GB. BIBUS process memory utilization is around 800 MB to 1.4 GB.JVM memory is around 2GB.
Average session in cognos is around 150 and High water mark is 450 and low water mark is 1.
It is observed that the portal is working fine for some day after restarting the service.
Some time the cognos server is not updating the cogserver.log file but not sure if it is related to performance issue.

Hi, I'm facing the same issue. Did you by any chance find out what could be done with this issue. I have BIB processes running and taking a lot of the Temp Space.

Please help if you can.

Thanks so much

bensah

IBM suggested to upgrade the environment from 10.1 to 10.2 but not sure what is the root cause of it.

Thank you. It seems like our issue is a little different. BIB Processes are running and DB2 Database keep running the same Query from the DB for even day and half. The DBA doesn't know how to get DB2 to keep the processes.

I have made some changes but IBM also recommended the installation of patches on top of 10.2.1.

If you need more info, pls let me know and thanks for your reply. Here is some info to share with this wonderful Site:

I notice you have the number of processes set to 16, typically this value is 2 x number of processors. So, is it safe to assume you have 8 or more processors on these servers. (Note, at this point, I'm not recommending any changes, I'm still gathering information).

Second, I've reviewed the fixlist for Cognos 10.2.1 FP9, FP10, FP11, and FP12. You can find them here:

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27038339

In particular in FP11, I see 4 defects fixed around the BIBus process. I'd advise reviewing those to see if any match the scenario in your environment.
