Durable Models - Cognos Query Subject Name change

One of my query subject is being renamed, which would potentially impact the existing reports.I need your advice on using Durable models so that I don't have to manually map all the existing reports with the new name changes.

This is an existing Model with English as the Design Language, I'm not sure if I can change the Design Language to something else for an existing model to leverage the Durable Model feature.

PS: We are not using any Cognos admin Tools (like Motio,BSP..) which would help us in mass update or impact analysis.

Any suggestions in this regard are highly appreciated.

Thanks
Raj

Hi Raj,

You can't change the Design Language once the FM project is created, but that info is stored in the model.xml file. You may be able to open it in a text editor and manually edit this information. I haven't tested it but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Create two new very simple models. One has a design language different than the active language, and the other has both as the same. Create 1 exact same query subject in the model and then compare the model.xml. You should be able to observe the differences and modify it.

You could also "Analyze Publish Impact" in FM, although that hasn't proven as reliable as some of the third party tools out there.
