I am trying to do the following: I want to build a column chart which shows months on the x-axis (previous year january - previous month). At the end of this chart I want two more colums: one column which shows the past 12 month average and one colomn which shows the YTD average. The source of this chart is a Cognos powercube. I tried to build this chart, but the problem is that because of the YTD member it shows only the current year.

Are you stacking these elements on the X axis side by side or are you nesting them?

Are the YTD members built in your cube or have you created them in your report? If the latter, describe how.

I'm stacking the elements on the X-axis side by side. The YTD members are built in the cube.

I'm stacking the elements on the X-axis side by side. The YTD members are built in the cube.

So you have a single member for each of the YTD elements stacked next to each other. Presumably these are coming from a relative time dimension? How have you included the months, meaning what is the expression used? Stacking elements shouldn't really affect each other. Do you have a context filter or slicer in the query? Are these elements different levels in the same dimension or coming from different dimensions?

A screen shot of what your dimensions and levels look like along with how your chart is set up would be useful. It is difficult to advise without knowing what your source looks like.

Thanks for your help!

Actually there are two problems:

I want to see this year's month and previous year's month next to each other, as follows:

I'm using the short-name from the month level, which is month number without year, on the x-axis:

I also want the 12 month average to be one column, not divided per year. Is this possible with the dimensional data source I'm using?
