Hello

I have recently taken over administration of a Planning 10.1.1 installation on Windows Server 2008.  The ContentStore  and ContentPlanning databases reside on a separate server running SQL Server 2008 SP3.

We are soon having a new server installed, running Windows Server 2012R2 and SQL Server 2014 Standard SP1.  The new server will have the same name as the current server.

What needs to be done to migrate those data stores properly?

Thanks

Depending on what you choose as the CS server and PS server- from a high level-
Install the required software
Export out the source CS server and import into the target CS server- test that the CS content has imported correctly.
In your cognos configuration- configure and test the CS connection and the PS connection
If successful open the Contributor Admi Console and create the Planning store tables
Once the CS and PS are functional- export out the applications, macros, admin links, etc. from the source to the target PS
Instead of server names might want to try IP address or FQDN

The C10 Planning Admin guide has detailed steps and instructions providing-
The installing account has proper permissions-
Please read the guide and pencil it out - you'll get it.

YMMV
