Hi , I am getting this error when trying to open the existing Project In FM.

BME-EX-0047 Unable to read preferences for the requested interface. Please use another repository and/or ProjectAccess Interface

It sounds like your ini file may be corrupt. Do you have a copy of bmt.ini saved anywhere that you can copy back in to your configuration folder? If not, you may need to reinstall FM (or grab the ini file from the install media and copy it in).

MF.

Yes, I resolved this issue by replacing that file. But why thing occurred suddenly ? any Idea ?

MFGF

Was the old ini file still there or had it been deleted? If it was stil there, what was the last modified date on the file? I can only assume that some external factor such as a virus scanner may have deleted it, or maybe it was on a sector of the hard drive that got corrupted somehow?

These are just wild guesses on my part, and probably way off the mark. That's normal service from me though! :)

The suggestions above, as also found on the IBM website (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21343268) did not solve to problem for me. In our case we had this problem only for one user account, not others. I eventually found that the bmt.ini is also stored per user (in our case the cognos.reports account) in the following location:
C:\Users\cognos.reports\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\ibm\cognos\c10\configuration
Once we replaced this bmt.ini file with the one from the C:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\c10_64\configuration location it started working again for that user account.
Hope this helps.

Hi buddy

Definitely , this problem is because of antivirus. Even i faced this problem today, and i replaced the bmt.ini file. It worked properly after i deleted the antivirus file from the registry itself.

Thank You

Hi MFGF,

I get the same error and my bmt.ini file exists in the specified location. I also replaced the file with a new one but still no luck. I am getting the same error. Is there anything else i can do to make it work ? Please help.

Thanks,
Sakthi
