table style

on the list i created i right click then choose table styles and i want alternative rows so i take rows1 in the list
it shows that row 1 will be white and row 2 grey and so on.

when i run report with this style i get
mod(RowNumber(), 4) = 1. CRX-YXX-4010 there is a parse error at.....

why cant i use this style can use modern or classic or others except the rows

Works fine for me here. Did you create the expression it is complaining about or did you just take the steps you describe above? Are you using a relational or dimensional package? What version of Cognos 10?

the cognos version is 10.1.1
havent put a expression anywhere just chosen a different style most styles work fine but the rows style where u should have different colored lines gives that error.
it makes the list so much easier to read if the lines are alternately coloured

made a example on how it should be gip.png

I'm using 10.2.2 and it works fine for me.
