No report versions when bursting to directory entries using distribution lists

Hi,

when bursting reports to directory entries using distribution lists, the report output versions are not available for users with no system admin rights in Cognos Connection.

Here is detailed example of the problem:

1. I have created two distribution lists and allocated a user to each with the following authorization: everyone (write, execute, Transit) and directory admin (all rights)

2. I have copied the search path of the corresponding distribution list: CAMID(":User")

3. I have created a separate data element in the Report with the following expression:

case when [product group] = 'Accessories'
then 'CAMID(":User1")'
when [product group] = 'climbing equipment'
then 'CAMID(":User2")'
else 'CAMID(":xxx")
end

4. I have defined the bursting options in the report (type = 'Directory entries')

5. In Cognos Connection, I have executed and send the report per mail with bursting enabled as a user with system admin rights. Sending the Report per mail works properly, User1 has received a report with data according to product group 'Accessories' and User2 with data according to product group 'climbing equipment'

However, when logging into Cognos Connection as User1 or User2, it is not possible to view the corresponding report output version. There is a time and date stamp entry under version, but no PDF Report und formats.
Note that if im logged in as system admin, I can see both versions. Also note that if I'm using regular groups and members instead of distribution lists, it works fine, which means that User1 or User2 is able to view and download the report version. However, in my case it would be extremely cumbersone to rebuild the distribution lists to regular groups and members.

Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? Is there maybe a certain security function which I need to use?

Hi Paul,

Thanks for excellent problem description. I have exactly the same problem. Email distribution works, but in the portal user only sees timestamps when report was run but not bursted content. Admin can see the content too. Tried to work out all possible and impossible combinations with no luck.
