Is there a way to setup a Cognos report so that when a report is run it returns the results on one page wide for all users?

Thanks.

Hello Mike,
What is the volume of data? Can it be 20 rows for one particular user, but 2000 for another? If that is the case then, unfortunately there is no way to achieve this. You can design your report keeping a safe higher end on the number of rows. For example, if you think there will never be more than 50 rows of data, and your report has a List table, then you can set the number of rows properties for the list to be 50. Then run the report in PDF and see what the PDF engines does with it. You may then have to play around with the font size, padding properties etc to squeeze eveything into one page.

For Horizontal Pagination:

Firstly, for the container (list or crosstab), set the pagination property to not allow horizontal pagination.

Secondly, set the Page property for PDF Setup to the width of paper you wish.
This can be done globally under the File Menu Option or for each independent page if necessary.

Vertical pagination is a little harder to control.
This may or may not be a requirement for you.

Hope this helps,
Adam.

I had a report with a fixed number of rows which in PDF was regularly outputting ~10 lines on page 2, and I wanted it all on a single page.

I was able to do this by going into PDF Page Setup, choosing Paper Size - Custom and setting very high values for Width & Height which still respected the desired height to width ratio. I ended up using W: 33cm H: 47,5cm giving a ratio of 1,44. Getting there took a bit of trial and error, but basically the higher your values the more you can fit into a single page.

The idea came from this article: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/library/cognos/reporting/layout_and_formatting/page585.html
