Hi All,
I know this may sound odd, but is it possible to have a webinar where people with experience can demonstrate modelling using cognos FM.
I know we can post our doubts in this website, which is a good platform, but any session or a webinar that is taken by experienced people will help many others including me.

Please voice your thoughts on the same.

Thanks,
ShadowHunter!

Hi Bus_Pass_Man
Thanks for sharing the information.
I do know that these guides will help us, but what will be better is if we could as a nice gesture get as much people on a live board to share their experiences in modelling. This will help a lot. I know a lot of information is available in PDFs and other resources but, there are times when particular concepts need additional help or suggestion.

If anybody here can just take out some time from their busy schedule and conduct a webinar, which can be possible through live meeting or other utilites , it will help others including me in gaining the different perspectives to modelling. This is just to make an attempt at sharing knowledge across board.

Thanks,
ShadowHunter

IMHO the best thing would be formal training, such as that proposed in the last two links suggested by Bus_Pass_Man.

If that's not an option for you, you could go to the resources page of Senturus http://www.senturus.com/resources/ where you'll find four recorded webinars on the subject of Framework Manager.

I have no affiliation with Senturus, but I regularly attend their (free) webinars, which are invariably excellent  :)

If you want to organize something yourself that is an open-ended group session, you could use something like Google Hangouts.

If you are looking for someone to make a presentation on how to model, well that is asking a bit much. Doing anything like an effective presentation involves a lot more than showing up and doing a brain dump. It takes a lot of preparation even for a 30-minute presentation.

I have seen quite a few webinars from the likes of Senturus and other vendors in the BI and Cognos areas. They are usually free and oftentimes very good.

But in my opinion, if you want more than written material, you cannot substitute for actual professional training, whether classroom or on-line.

I too am struggling with relational modelling.  I have taken formal mentoring, and read everything I can, however most of the help and training out there is for dimensional modelling and reporting.  I would be willing to discuss with you as I learn and implement our relational model.  You can message me on this site and I will send you my email address.

OK so let's start by you telling me how what you've learnt is not applicable to what you want to do.   :)
