hello,

I wonder if you can open an active report in the same tab (like a normal report), not a new one, I need to put the AR in a tab in Cognos Connection.

look in the topics but did not find the way, just found how to add them by the MHT URL but every time I generate a new one gives me a new URL, it must be automatic.

thanks

nachmanb

I think you need 10.1.1 for this, but if you have it, you can put an active report in a Business Insight page (there must be a saved version of the active report in the portal) and then get the url for the Business Insight page (from with Business Insight click the down arrow in the top left and choose 'Copy link to Clipboard) and then put the URL in an HTML viewer on a cognos dashboard page

Hi,
You can do it in simple way like. Create new dashboard and add HTML viewer in that.
and run the active report. when you run the report you can see URL in web browser.Just copy that URL and paste into html viewer URL link properties. Now you can be able to see you active report in HTML viewer and you can add this tab into your portal page.

thanks,
Suresh.

The only thing to be aware of is that each time the mht output for the report is refreshed, the url for the mht changes, so you will need to keep updating the html portlet each time.

Cheers!

Yes I agree with you, Every time it needs to be refreshed.
Thanks,

If that URL needs to be updated in the portlet every time the report refreshes...

...yikes, I'd hardly call that a solution.

And, using Cognos Worskspace isn't great either because there's no way to get rid of the toolbar.

Arg. Frustrating.

That's why I pointed this out - it sounds initially like a great idea, but in practice it might not be so practical :)

If you are using Cognos Workspace in 10.2, you can cause the widget toolbar to be hidden by locking down the security so that the user belongs to the "Executive Dashboard" capability but not to the "Use Advanced Dashboard Features" and "Use Interactive Dashboard Features" capabilities. This effectively makes them a dashboard consumer. Obviously, it's not a solution if the user needs to be able to interact with other Cognos Workspace dashboards in any way beyond that of a consumer...

Might be someone has figure out already as it's a old thread (couldn't find it out), but below URL may solve the issue of getting the latest Active Report even though the file get refreshed.

http://<gateway_server>/c82/cgi-bin/cognos.cgi?SM=query&search=defaultOutput(/content/folder/report)&SA=propEnum,properties&ITEM=data&EA=&SS=queryOptions,options&dataEncoding=MIME&ES=&EM=

Change the gateway server of your Cognos server
for the Default Output path, go to properties and get the Search path

use the above URL under HTML Viewer in the Portal page, it will open within Portal
