Data Dropdown Lists Selection

HI All,

I have tried to build an Active Report objects like Charts Cross tabs with in the Data deck inside the TAb Control. For each deck card, i created 5 dropdown lists. using different active variables.
i.e A Tab Control with 4 Tab Cards, Bar Chart, Crosstab, Line Chart and Pie chart
In the first Tab card, i have taken 5 drop down lists and a datadeck. The dragged a crosstab into the datadeck. Using seperate Active variables i have linked datadropdown lists and Datadeck and tab control to 5 dropdown lists. Also master detail relationship between datadeck and crosstab. Its working fine

In the second tab card, i ahve repeated the same process using the same dropdown lists , same queries and same variables to connect to datadeck and tab control but used crosstab instead of Bar chart. its also working fine..but in the report output for the crosstab, when I select the datadrop down lists, to see the figures in the crosstab, the selected name is not visible on the lists, unless i selected the same item twice.
hAS ANYONE FACED THIS ISSUE? Can one explain whats the issue here please? I want to see the selected item in the dropdown list/selection when i clicked the item the first time..

Hi,

My advice is to move the dropdown list controls outside the tab control. In this way you have only one set of controls defined for the report.

for ex:
bar chart with day granularity by Store, manager, Week, Month, Year
Line Chart by Hour Granularity by Store, manager, Week, Month, Year
Pie Chart by same set of controls with another level of granularity.
Thats why i had put inside the Tab control inorder to make the report page look neat. the user can just click tab to see different charts with controls.

And the issue is it appears good for the bar chart.
but for the Line Chart and Pie chart its disappearing when i click the item in the control for the first time but appearing when i click the same item twice.


Please let me know any work around for this

Hi,

If I'm reading this right, the charts have different granularities but are filtered by the same set of controls (Store, Manager, Week, Month, Year)? If the controls are the same for each, why do you need them inside the tab control? I'm not following your logic here.

Regardless, the symptom you describe sounds like you have set up multiple active report variables for the same task? You should have only one variable for Store controls, one variable for Manager controls, one variable for Week controls, one variable for Month controls and one variable for Year controls. I'd guess you have multiple variables for each? We don't know, though, because you haven't described in detail how you set everything up, so I'm just guessing...
