Cognos 10.2.1 installation issues

Hi All,

I had installed a cognos 10.2.1 bi server in one of the windows server 2008 r2 data center sp1.
Single server all components installation.
I did all the IIS settings after insatllation, but when starting the services, The cognos service does not start and on opening the page, the error is displayed as follows:
"IBM cognos gateway is unable to connect to the cognos server. The server may be unavailable or the gateway is not configured correctly."

It does not throw any error other than this. Also the cogserverlog file is not getting generated.

Your guidance to this is appreciated.

first,

are you sure that cognos service is running?
Check using services.msc.

Are you able to start cognos service successfully?
Are you able to set the content store in the content manager successfully?
In cognos configuration, you can right-click on the environment and click test to check every configuration is acceptable then try to restart it from there.

Also make sure to set the cognos service to run using a system admin account.

Thanks for your reply

Are you able to start cognos service successfully? No, From Cognos configuration Cognos service fails.
Are you able to set the content store in the content manager successfully? YES
In cognos configuration, you can right-click on the environment and click test to check every configuration is acceptable then try to restart it from there. On test, it is succeeeds
Also make sure to set the cognos service to run using a system admin account. Opening cognos config by right click->run as admin
Also it takes a lot of time to start the cognos service.

Hi Saumil,

There are a lot of factors that may have caused this error.
For testing purposes.
Try running the dispatcher uri. Copy and paste the url from cognos configuration, the one that ends in \dispatch.
This is one thing we do when checking if the services successfully runs.

Also, in your configuration, did you use 'localhost' on the uri's?
If so, change them to IP address or your computer name.

You can also try to recreate the cryptographic keys.

I have faced this error before, this is one of the steps we took.

This may also be caused by network or security issues between gateway and the content store such as firewall setup.

Better yet, check the server log so you can pin point the main issue.

I tried with the things you have provided, but no success.

One more thing I encountered is,
When starting services from configuration,
The things which comes up after mail server error ie as follows:
The below thing doesnt show up.
(The below thing I took from cognos 8.3 when starting the services from cognos configuration)

feds, your link is for Cognos Express. Windows 2008 R2 Datacenter Edition is supported for the 10.2.1. This link is FP4 but that OS is on the base version also.
