This is on a terminal server?  Did you check the box on install that asked about Citrix? (it's actually for TS and Citrix both)  If you didn't check the box, it's profile-based and might be causing the issues you mentioned.

You need to import registry keys into this new account that did not perform the install..

Honey

Thanks a lot eric for ur quick reply.

If i do export the registry keys(working ID) and import to error ID. Any effect to current cognos installation?

Hey Honey,

No there shouldn't be any problems with the install following the import of the keys.

Dear Eric,

We have 25 users, so i need to do the same for all users individually?

Short answer, yes.  Long answer, and likely the easiest, is to add the 2 reg files to the desktop of the 'all users' profile path.

Steps:
1. On the server, copy or cut both of the registry files.
2. Open windows explorer and navigate into C:\Users\Public\Desktop\Public Desktop
3. Paste both files into this desktop location.  This should make the 2 files available to the desktop location of all profiles already created.
4. When each user logs onto the server have them double click the 2 registry files and then test Analyst.

You can either cleanup the files after or leave them, there's no harm to them.

 :)Thanks Eric

So i need to do like : Copy Registry files from both systems ( HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > COGNOS ) paste into C:\Users\Public\Desktop\Public Desktop

Yep, you'll export the 2 keys from a user account that can open Analyst OK:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > COGNOS
HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > IBM > COGNOS > Planning84

and then paste into the Public Desktop directory.

Hi Eric,

My Management decided to go  Hyper V 2012 environment. Because Virtual server is slow compared to Physical server.
So i need to do re-install once again in new servers.

Please suggest - at the time of installation to exclude this type of error.

Thanks in Advance

Hi Honey,

You can possibly avoid this error by copying the profile of the account that did the install of Analyst and replace the default profile.  The result of this is that when any new profiles are created, they are created with the appropriate registry keys.

Pro tip: If you contemplate using this approach, make sure that you copy the profile very early on ..  since we're replacing the default profile, there may be stuff contained in there that aren't required for -all- profiles.

Another method may be to create a startup script that confirms if the registry values exist and if not, to copy them into the registry.
