Query Explorer layout in Report Studio

Hello, I am a new Cognos user and I started writing my first report in Report Studio. What I have noticed immediately is how annoying it is to navigate to the Query Explorer. I have to hover the cursor over the explorer bar in the middle to just be able to click on Query Explorer.

Is there a way to lock the Query Explorer (and other explorers) in a view to the right/left/top/bottom so I can quickly go to it by clicking once rather than hovering and waiting to click?

I don't think you can - that's just the way they've written the interface. Probably the closest you can get is to click on View/Queries from the menu bar.

Once you've placed your cursor over the tab in the middle, the Query Explorer should open immediately, with no perceptible wait.

Is it taking much longer in your case? Are other tabs also slow to open? If that's the case, I have an idea why that might be...

It comes back within a second or two, I think it's a preference thing. I'm used to working with other IDE's and just struggling with the learning curve here.

You can right-click on a layout container and select the option to go to the query associated with that container. Not exactly what you're asking about, but thought I'd mention it in case you find it useful for some navigation situations.
