Scrolling issue in Report Studio editor

G'day all
I am at a client and using Cognos BI 10.1 Report Studio with MS Internet Explorer 8.0.6.
When I make a change or even click anywhere in the editor 95% of the time the browser scrolls to the bottom left side corner.  The other 5% it goes to the bottom right side corner.  This is VERY annoying behaviour.
Is this a setting in Report Studio or Internet Explorer that needs to be changed to stop this?

Also, every time I start Report Studio it resets the Options properties.  E.g. I turn off the properties under the Report tab "Delete unreferenced ..." each time I logon and use RS.  But next time I logon this has been reset with these properties turned on.

How can I set these properties such that they stay how I set them?

Cheers,

Bluey

Hi Blue,

That sounds weird! Is this just on one specific machine or on all machines running IE8?

I have had the same IE8 browser since 10.1 with no issues - mine was (and is) 8.0.7601.86722 so slightly later than your build of IE.

I once saw something like this on my old Lenovo laptop where there was a funky button between the inbuilt left and right mouse buttons below the spacebar. I think it was supposed to emulate a scrollwheel, but if I inadvertently pressed it once I would get crazy scrolling issues. Pressing it again set everything right. It's a long shot, but could it be this, perhaps?

Cheers!

G'day MF.  On all machines at this particular client site.  Not one of my colleagues at PMSquare has seen this before at other clients.  That's why I suspect some property setting in I.E. (which the client's IT dept prevents us from changing!)

Hi Bob,

Probably a fruitless question if it's a client site locked down by a ferocious IT department, but... is there any possibility of trying it in Firefox ESR10 or 17? That would give you a good idea whether it's a server-side issue or something to do with the browser settings.

Being English, I won't ask your thoughts on The Ashes either :)
