Hi Cog,

Please try the following steps:

Set the Authentication Source to none or Set up a valid Runtime Configuration.

Steps:
1.   From the Start menu, click Programs, IBM Cognos Series 7, Tools, Configuration Manager.
2.   In the Welcome dialog box, click the Start tab.
3.   Click Open the Current Configuration.
Configuration Manager opens.
4.   In the Explorer window, expand the computer -> Services -> Access Manager - Runtime --> Authentication Source

Set the Value of Default to 'none'
5.   In the Explorer window, click the computer.
6.   From the Actions menu, click Apply Selection

Also you can visit the link below regarding the same.

Thanks and regards

There is no "None" option to select from the DEFAULT.

It has 3 options:
1. DIRECTORY SERVER
2. LAE

Can you please let me know which version of Cognos are u working upon?

Cog_rookie

IBM Cognos Series 7 version 4.

I shall be configuring it with Cognos 10.1.1

The Directory Server only seems to work for a while when i restart the SERVICES locates inside the SUN\MPS folder.

It works for a little while then the connection is lost again on the access manager- administration page

Turn off DEP (Data Execution Prevention) on the server running Sun.
Make sure firewall ports between servers is off - (network and Windows firewall)
Try turning off anti-virus.
New install of Accman/Sun directory?  If so, make sure it's on Win2003 or older OS - Sun won't work on Win2008R2 even if you get it to install by ignoring the warnings on install.

I had just got it working in compatibility mode last week (win 2000) but it stopped working from yesterday.

The peculiar thing is the directory server can connect when I restart the DIRECTORY SERVER - services, it connects for a little while and then fades away when I try to log in. This way I am never completely allowed to log in.

If by compatibility mode, you mean installed on Win7 x64/Win2008 R2 and changed properties on the executable, then yes, I've never seen that work.  Symptoms I saw were what you described.  Only solutions I found were to install to an old OS, or if migrating, snapshot the old server to VM image and hack internals to change name in Sun/Accman to use new server name.

Yes, you are right, I am running it on compatibility mode on 2008 r2 server. (Although it work last week  :o)

Thank you mate, I shall try it on 2003 Server instead.

I shall update the thread after the install.

SomeClown

YW.  Make sure you run it on the 32-bit version of Win2003

Cog_rookie

Seems to work on 2003.

Thanks for your advice and suggestions.
