I have created 3 roles: CognosAdmin, Lecturers and Students. Cognos have two folders to save reports: Public folders and My Folders.
I have configure that only CognosAdmin can see the administration functions. However i do not know what to do for lecturers and students. Please help me with the steps.

My guess:
Lecturers can create and delete reports in Public folder for students to work on while Students can only open and work on the reports, after which saving it into their personal folder, they cant overwrite the content of the reports in the public folder.

Haha i know i am very unclear. I do not know how to narrate my scenario:(

Some helps please.

Thanks,

Hi,

For Lecturers provide all permission on report folder except set policy, whereas for Students provide all permissions except set policy and write. In this way Lecturers can create reports which students cannot overwrite and students will be able to customize the reports and save to their personal folders.

Rahul

Hi,

Select the "set properties" of report folder.
Select permissions tab.
Check the "Override the access permissions acquired from the parent entry" checkbox.
If not already present add the required group in the list.
Check the checkbox beside the required group.
On right hand side there is a list containing entries Read, Write, Execute, Set Policy, Traverse.
Check the grant checkbox for all the entries except Set Policy.
Click  Ok.

Hope this helps.

Rahul
