Viewing TM1 cube data in Report studio

Client Environment:
TM1 9.4 installed on a single server environment.
Cognos 10.1.1 installed on a separate single server environment.
Web components and Framework manager installed on the Cognos server.
TM1 cube package published through Framework Manager into Cognos portal.

Issue:
I have built a simple report in report studio against the TM1 cube.
I have verified that there is data in TM1 cube for all the measures in the measure dimension.
The measure dimension has been defined in the cube properties.
But there is no data in the measures when I run the report.

So why can't I see any data in my measurs?
Could it be a security issue? I am a TM1 admin, and Cognos Admin.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

I would bet my hat on it being a context issue. Within TM1 it is not necessary to have a "root" member of a dimension (ie a single member acting as an apex, that all measure values can roll up to). If, for example, your Products dimension has a top level with five product lines as members, unless you add products directly into your reporting object or select (say) a product line and drop it into the context area of your report, measures cannot be displayed in the report because there is no default product member to display a rolled-up measure value for all products.

My advice is to build your report (crosstab, chart etc) using the required dimensions, then from each of the other unused dimensions select a relevant member and drop it into the context area at the top. As soon as you finish this process, I am 99.99% sure your measure values will then display.

I have often been known to be wrong, of course. That's why they call me a muppet :)

Thanks Muppet. I took your suggestion and added all the dimensions in context. I was able to see the data.

Next, I started removing the dimensions from the context filter one by one and was still seeing data, until I removed the time dimension.

My TM1 cube has 2 time dimensions called "Year" (for years) and "Period" (for months). When I only use Year dimension, I don't see any data. But when I add Period dimension to the context filter, I get data.

So it seems I have to select something from both time dimensions in order to view data.
The client has designed the TM1 cube, so I don't know what the right approach is here to have 2 time dimensions.

But at least now I know what the cause of it was. Thank you for leading me in the right direction!

Glad it works! Separate year and month dimensions are common in TM1 but my preference from a reporting perspective is to have a single time dimension with year and month levels.

I guess it's my Powerplay heritage influencing me :)

It took me weeks to write and record it! Not a single mention of Cognoise in the whole of the Oscars night, though. Pah. That's the last time I do Hollywood any favours. ;)
