Audit Tables - Not Populating

Good afternoon!

A few months ago, I've created a database for 8_4 Cognos environment for auditing purpose. Everything does seem to work fine, I was able to run the audit sample reports with accurate results. I could even write my own SQL queries against the audit database for custom Cognos report. Recently, I'm trying to setup the same thing on 8_2 Cognos environment, but the audit tables aren't populating. If you've any insight, please feel free to advise. Here's what I've done:

1) Created a new SQL audit database for 8_2 with one TestUser that have db_datareader, db_datawriter, db_ddladmin, db_owner access. This user should have permission to read and write against the database without any issue.

2) Added the audit database to Cognos Configuration under log database. Connection tested successfully.

3) Added the audit database to Cognos Administration data source connection. Connection tested successfully.

4) Modified the logging settings for Dispatchers and Services to 'Request': Content Manager service, report data service, dispatcher service, report service, etc.

5) I've reset the IIS and restarted Cognos Service.

After all that, the audit tables aren't populating. I've been checking the audit tables on the SQL database server, but every single tables, except COGIPF_SYSPROPS, are still empty. My apologies for the long e-mail, I want to provide as much details as possible. What am I missing here? Thank you very much regarding this matter.

Have you set the Logging Levels (Cognos Administration > Configuration > Dispatcher & Services > chosen dispatcher > Set Properties > Settings tab) to Basic or Higher for those things that you wish to log?

Hello tehfixxx,

I have the same problem here, only I run Cognos 8.4 with DB2 Audit db.
Have you managed to find a solution?

Cheers,
A.

Hello PolzovatelCognos,

After reading your post I re-checked my logging settings, and observed that when I changed from Minimal to Basic I did not saved it.
Thank you for the post! This solved my issue: setting all the logging options to Basic.

Regards,
A.
