Hi All,

I would like to know the best practices and steps to migrate the Contributor apps.

1. e-lists, rights and access tables, admin links and macros need to be imported manually ( Upgrade from 8.3-10.1)
2. Which is the best method?
a) Deployment method
b) Restoring the content store?

Please share the best methods and your valuable experiences.

Thanks,
Amrith

Hi Amritha,

It's always been a best practice to use the deployment wizard to export / import both the Content Store from Cognos connection and the admin links / macros / applications from the CAC.

You can actually get all the information regarding the upgrade process in the install and configuration guide for 10.1.  I've included a link below.  If you are not using new servers, it's the supported route to uninstall the previous version and then install the new version.  It's also a good idea to use new content store and planning store databases.

Additionally, I always advise that you should run through a mock upgrade in a lesser important environment; such as test or dev.  If you don't have another environment available, I would look into acquiring a single server VM or physical machine that you can install your current version and import the databases to test the upgrade.

Hope this helps.
